As of 2026, Scribe Publicationsis 50 years old. For half a century, Scribe has operated as an independent publishing house, and a bastion of great literature in Australia’s evolving cultural landscape. From its very beginnings the Scribe team has fostered strong relationships with its authors and wider community, cultivated a passionate, editorial-led approach to publishing, and championed original ideas, powerful writing, and bold points of view.

Celebrating fifty years of Scribe
Having established Scribe UK in 2013, and an office in the US in 2017, Scribe’s outlook is global. We bring Australian books to readers all over the world, and in turn enrich Australian readers with the very best international offerings by authors of many different nationalities. We have a celebrated history of developing new authors, and books we’ve published have received or been finalists for every major literary prize in Australia, alongside numerous international prizes.
Scribble, the children’s imprint of Scribe, is ten years old this year, having been established by Miriam Rosenbloom in 2016. In its short history it has launched many authors and illustrators’ careers and won numerous awards, including ‘Publisher of the Year’ in the Oceania region at the Bologna Book Fair in 2019, and published internationally bestselling titles, including Davina Bell & Allison Colpoys’ All the Ways to be Smart.
Scribe is immensely proud to have spent the last five decades bringing readers across Australia and the world the finest works of fiction and nonfiction, from local and international authors.
