The Fishermen awarded NAACP Image Award

Chigozie Obioma's The Fishermen has won an NAACP Image Award in the category of Outstanding Literary Work – Debut Author. Currently in its 47th year, the NAACP Image Awards is America's premier event celebrating the outstanding achievements and performances of people of colour in the arts.

The book has also been longlisted for the prestigious International Dylan Thomas Prize, one of the most important prizes for debut authors, and is a finalist for a 2016 Audie Award in the category of Literary Fiction & Classics.

The Fishermen has now been translated into 22 languages around the world. Chigozie is currently working on his second novel.
