From May this year, most of Scribe's new-release titles will also be available as e-books. This month's titles include I Say Tomato by Katie Wall, The Authenticity Hoax by Andrew Potter, and The End of Wall Street by Roger Lowenstein.
Scribe has also released a selection of its popular backlist titles as e-books. Titles now for sale include Dark Roots by Cate Kennedy, Climate Code Red by David Spratt & Philip Sutton, Wordwatching by Julian Burnside, Future Files by Richard Watson, and [Ego and Soul] (http://www.scribepublications.com.au/book/egoandsoul) by John Carroll. Other titles available soon include The Brain that Changes Itself by Norman Doidge, So Greek by Niki Savva, Well Done, Those Men by Barry Heard, and Making Babies by Theresa Miller. More will follow in the coming months.
Scribe's publisher, Henry Rosenbloom, says, 'We are entering the brave new world of digital publishing carefully, but enthusiastically. A member of staff has been working on this for months, conducting endless discussions, internally and externally. While there's no clear way forward, we've come to the conclusion that we know as little about it as anyone else does, so we might as well learn by doing. Nevertheless, we've been very pleased with the reaction of authors, agents, and overseas publishers to our e-book plans, and we hope to vindicate their trust as and when e-readers take off in this market.'
Scribe's e-books are for sale, in the first instance, at www.ebooks.com, and Scribe will be entering into sales and distributions arrangements with other organisations in the near future.
