Scribe currently have two vacancies to fill in our Brunswick offices, as below:
Editor (full-time)
Working across a list that encompasses 60+ titles per year, this full-time position would suit someone with several years’ experience editing fiction and nonfiction in a trade-publishing house.
The editor will be responsible for all aspects of the editorial process, from manuscript to finished book. Reporting to the senior commissioning editor, and liaising closely with production, sales, publicity and marketing, and design, the editor will ensure that their books are completed on time and to budget.
The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate a love of books, excellent written and verbal communication skills, high-level organisational skills, a high degree of initiative, and the ability to work in a medium-sized office with good humour. Experience in trade publishing is essential.

Managing editor (part-time, 0.6)
This position would suit someone with several years’ experience in production or project management, and requires an in-depth knowledge of and experience in production, design, and editorial processes in a trade-publishing environment.
The role requires excellent organisational and communication skills, and the ability to manage all stages of book production on schedule, and to exacting editorial and design standards. Reporting to the publisher, and working closely with the production manager, art director, designers, and editors, the managing editor will ensure that the Scribe lists are produced as smoothly as possible.
The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate a love of books, excellent written and verbal communication skills, high-level organisational skills, a high degree of initiative, and the ability to work in a medium-sized office with good humour. Experience in trade publishing is essential.
