It's getting to the pointy end of the year and our social media and news feeds are crowded with last minute gift ideas and end of year sales, but scattered amongst all the seasons greetings are the 'best of' lists for 2015. We here at Scribe have been very excited to see a number of our books popping up, so we've chosen some highlights to share with you.
Jennifer Gonnerman selected Bryan Stevenson’s Just Mercy for The New Yorker's best of 2015 list, noting, 'Stevenson comes by his stories—and his insights—through many years spent representing the poorest and most powerless, and it’s this firsthand knowledge that makes his book so powerful, and so necessary.'
Miles Allinson's exploration of love, loss, creativity and identity Fever of Animals featured twice in The Wheeler Centre's best books of 2015 list. It was also selected three times in The Australian's detailed collection of Books of the Year.
Six Square Metres by Margaret Simons was also highlighted in The Australian's list, and touted as a 'delightful ode to the rhythm of the seasons' in BMA Magazine's Top 5 Books of 2015.
Fiston Mwanza Mujila's Tram 83 made Literary Hub's best books of 2015, and Gut by Giulia Enders made the non-fiction list for Booktopia's books of the year. It was noted that the book had incited lots of awkward conversations in the office, and we're sure Booktopia staff weren't the only ones talking about it!
And finally, Readings Books posted a collection of the best book covers of 2015, which included Fever of Animals, Peggy Frew's Hope Farm, and the striking eye-catcher, Lion Attack! by Oliver Mol.
We're so proud to celebrate these wonderful titles, along with all our 2015 releases. The Scribe team are looking forward to bringing you many more wonderful stories and insights in 2016!
