Scribe is pleased to announce the acquisition of Time Together, a powerful new novel by Luke Horton, author of The Fogging.

Time Together is a novel about different kinds of love, different kinds of loneliness, and the way that spending time together can bring out the best and worst in friends and family. Trying to avoid the loneliness that’s come in the wake of his mother’s recent passing, Phil has invited a bunch of old friends to visit. Tomorrow, Bella and Tim will arrive with their two kids, one on the brink of puberty; and the next day, Jo and Lucas will come too, with their little one. Then there’s Annie, who will be by herself. Maybe this is a mistake. Maybe it’s just what they all need.

Senior editor David Golding, who acquired the book, said, ‘Following up on his debut novel, which focused on a single point of view, Luke has created a vivid cast of characters, familiar yet original, by turns intimate, awkward, funny, and awful. It’s a portrait of contemporary midlife, parenting, and grief, of how love endures and transforms over the years, but also of how the past continues to work itself out in the present, sometimes promising hope and other times ruin.’

Luke Horton’s writing has appeared in various publications, including The Guardian, The Saturday Paper, and Meanjin. He teaches creative writing at RMIT and the Faber Academy, and is also a member of acclaimed indie-rock band Love of Diagrams.
