Scribe Publications is delighted to announce that it has acquired world rights in Cop this Lot: writers on growing up class-conscious in Australia, an anthology of essays edited by novelist Tobias McCorkell on the theme of social class in Australia. McCorkell, whose debut novel Everything in its Right Place will appear from Transit Lounge in October, says the essays ‘will challenge Australia’s myths and truths concerning its national character and delve deeply into the nation’s complex relationship with social class’. Contributors currently include Tony Birch, Alice Pung, Shannon Burns, Amra Pajalic, Luke Carman, and Timmah Ball.
Scribe’s associate publisher, Marika Webb-Pullman, says: ‘I can’t imagine a better time for this book — class intersects (often invisibly) with so many other conversations we’re currently having in Australia about race, access, inequality, culture, and power’.
Rights were acquired from Martin Shaw at Shaw Literary. Scribe will publish Cop this Lot in mid-2021.
