In the Sydney Writers Festival’ bookshop, run by Gleebooks, The Brain That Changes Itself by Dr Norman Doidge was the clear winner, selling almost double the number of copies of the number two title – and Commonwealth Writers Prize winner – A Case of Exploding Mangoes by Mohammed Hanif.

Gleebooks co-owner David Gaunt said Doidge’s book was his bookshop’s most successful seller during the history of the festival. After breaking sales records at last year’s Brisbane Writers’ Festival The Brain That Changes Itself has sold almost 60% more than any previous festival bestseller at SWF.
