This week the National Association for Multi-ethnicity in Communications (NAMIC) awarded Dr Sanjay Gupta, chief medical correspondent for CNN and author of Cheating Death: the doctors and medical miracles that are saving lives against all odds, the 2009 Mickey Leland Humanitarian Achievement Award. The Mickey Leland Humanitarian Achievement Award was established in 1992 in memory of the late Congressman from Texas for his lifelong advocacy of social justice and equality for people around the world.
